A technology service provider has started a fresh collaboration with a globally recognised manufacturer of ejection seats and aviation safety equipment. This engagement is intended to increase operational efficiency and support long-term readiness through revisions to its SAP enterprise structure and broader system enhancements.
The consultancy has successfully implemented several projects for this customer, including the deployment of the PreBilt™ solution. This implementation significantly improved operational visibility, minimised manual processes, and simplified operations for personnel.
Transition to SAP S/4HANA
As part of its digital progression, the manufacturer is migrating from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA, opting for a brownfield implementation. This approach required a review of the existing enterprise structure, which had remained static with one plant and one warehouse, even though the company is active across three UK sites.
In early 2024, the consultancy was appointed to undertake a feasibility study and provide tailored recommendations in accordance with SAP best practices. The proposal included the completion of the S/4HANA upgrade prior to implementing a revised enterprise structure, recommending the adoption of two plants and three warehouses.
Upcoming Implementation Phase
With the S/4HANA upgrade nearing its conclusion, the customer is now beginning the recommended enterprise structure changes. Additional system enhancements identified during discovery are also set for implementation. These include upgrades to PreBilt and modifications to SAP to support inter-site stock transfers and Available to Promise (ATP) functionality.
